The Vision of the Music of Ainur

Eru’s song

  1. This place of light and shadow,

  2. Is our home to be cherished.

  3. We call this world Arda,

  4. A place we should hold precious and sacred.

  5. My fellow friends and children,

  6. Hear me as I speak.

  7. This is a harmony’s call,

  8. Do not let our peace fleet

  9. Let compassion mold your ways,

  10. Let serenity lead your passing days.

  11. The music of Ainur flows in all of you,

  12. Elves, dwarves and others are one and all are true.

  13. Keep love and compassion inside,

  14. Use light and grace as your guide.

When I pictured Eru in his melody, I pictured him preaching peace and prosperity for all. I envisioned him using angelic, harp-like music in the background and words that demonstrate the embodiment of a true, wise leader. I chose the song by choosing words that motivate people to be better versions of themselves and I picked the background music that matches the heavenly nature of Eru.

Morgoth’s song

  1. Before the dawn,

  2. In the silence I awoke.

  3. I gathered the warriors,

  4. And the heavens turned to smoke.

  5. My desire for power grew,

  6. As the music of Ainur endlessly played.

    1. Glory to Morgoth, the dark unafraid

  7. I knew it was time for me to pursue,

  8. The valor of Eru that was portrayed.

  9. My path was true,

  10. As the patterns in the song changed.

  11. The Orcs and Balrogs knew,

  12. It is the beginning of the new age.

    1. Glory to Morgoth, the dark unafraid

When I envisioned Morgoth’s change in song, I pictured a dark and mysterious aura that filled the room as it echoed through the crowd. His song has a sense of suspicion and depth, where not everything is revealed. His song hinted at his plan to gather more people to follow him. I pictured the instrumental music to be a dark piano that demonstrates cinematic flair and uncertainty. I chose the lyrics based on rhythm and by vision of what Morgoth was thinking before he began to clash with Eru's song of Ainur.

  1. Your songs describe Eru and Melkor very accurately and I really like how they are written!! Eru's song shows words of inspiration and what he truly believes in, offering feelings of peace. On the other hand, Melkor's song has the opposite feeling, with a sense of mystery and darkness. Great job on this!!
